Caroline County planning panel re-elects chair, adopts amended bylaws setting new quorum rule

JD Young was re-elected chairman of the Caroline County Planning Commission during a voice vote at the start of the meeting. David Beal was confirmed as vice president and Lisa was confirmed to continue as secretary.

The commission then reviewed proposed bylaws amendments. Members voted to change the quorum requirement so that a meeting would consist of at least one representative from three of the county's magisterial districts. Commissioners voted by voice; the motion carried.

Members also approved an amendment authorizing the chairman and the planning director to cancel scheduled monthly meetings when there is insufficient business to warrant convening. Commissioners adopted the bylaws as amended and approved the commission calendar, which maintains meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

The commission accepted the meeting minutes for Feb. 5, 2025, as presented; two members abstained from that vote. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn that passed by voice vote.
