Recovery Epicenter Foundation outlines services and expansion plans during public comment

During the public-comment portion of the Jan. 21 meeting, Daryl Henderson, advocacy director for the Recovery Epicenter Foundation in Clearwater, told the commission about the foundation’s work providing harm-reduction and peer-support services.
Henderson said the foundation operates a respite-housing site called Catchers Smith in Clearwater and aims to open another respite housing facility in Pasco County in 2025 and to lease space in St. Petersburg for a recovery community center. He said the foundation served 549 people in 2024; of those, 320 transitioned successfully to a recovery residence, 99 were linked to substance-use-disorder treatment, and the program reduced homelessness by 4,195 days (participant-days of homelessness avoided, as presented).
Henderson described the foundation’s mission as reducing stigma and connecting people to peer-support and treatment pathways. Commissioners thanked him and city staff later noted the local homeless-outreach team works with the foundation as a community resource.
