Council approves consent agenda, planning items and appointments 9-0

The Virginia Beach City Council approved the full consent agenda, including ordinances, budget appropriations, planning approvals and a slate of appointments, by a vote of 9–0.

Council Member Henley read the consent items into the record. The consent package included ordinances to accept state grants, appropriations to operating budgets for fiscal year 2024–25, personnel appointments to the city attorney’s office, stormwater cost participation agreements and amendments to the airport noise attenuation and safety ordinance. Planning items approved on consent covered conditional use permits, changes in nonconformity, sign approvals and one conditional change of zoning deferred to March 4, 2025.

The council also recorded a 9–0 vote to reappoint and appoint members to boards and commissions. Reappointments and appointments listed on the agenda included Mayor Dyer, Vice Mayor Wilson, Council Member Berlucchi and Council Member Hutchinson to the Atlantic Park Community Development Authority; Howard Kern to the Development Authority; Hayden Dube to the Historical Review Board; Louis Shager to the Military Economic Development Advisory Committee; Emiliano Orsinia to the Public Library Board; Robert Malati and Deepak Nakhnani to the Resort Advisory Commission; and Melissa Horrell to the Transitionary ITA Citizens Advisory Committee.
