Charleston committee approves six resolutions to buy 10 trucks under state contract

CHARLESTON — A Charleston committee approved six resolutions authorizing the purchase of 10 pickup and utility trucks from state-vetted contractors, the committee agreed during a routine procurement session.

The purchases, approved as resolutions 25-10 through 25-15, use pricing from a West Virginia competitive contract the city’s staff said was recently available. City staff told the committee some vehicles were budgeted in fiscal 2025, several were rolled over from 2024, and two originally were ordered in 2023 and later canceled by the vendor.

City staff described the buys as routine fleet replacements tied to a 10-year replacement cycle. “We rotate out every 10 years,” a city staff member said, and added that the purchases were “all under budget.” The staff member said the fleet manager used the state contract to secure competitive pricing.
