Lauderhill commission gives Eagles Nest Charter two-year extension, orders plan for relocation

The Lauderhill City Commission on Monday approved a renewal of a special-exception land use allowing Eagles Nest Community Charter School to remain at 3698 Northwest 15th Street, but shortened the period of authorization and required a concrete relocation plan.

The commission voted 5-0 to amend the staff draft and set the special-exception expiration to July 1, 2027, giving the school roughly two more years to identify, fund and move to a site the city considers more compatible with its industrial zoning. Commissioners debated the tradeoffs between keeping a neighborhood school in place and the city’s long-standing plan to reserve that industrial corridor for manufacturing and warehousing.
