Board announces school events, athletic results and flags MOU needing vote

Athletics: Board members announced that the Liberty County High School girls basketball team won a game 57–10 and had additional playoff games scheduled at Calvary High School and Statesboro High School in the coming days.
MOU and donor funding: A board member asked about an MOU that “talked about the 15,000” and said the board needs to vote on it. Another speaker said a private contributor gave $25,000 to hold the event; board members said the money for the event was not coming out of the district’s budget. No formal motion or recorded vote on the MOU appeared during the Feb. 19 meeting; members asked staff to confirm whether the MOU packet had been distributed and when the item would be placed on an agenda for action.
Other logistics: Board members reminded colleagues of the star student–teacher luncheon and noted invitations involving military-spouse employment and other stakeholder events. The board set its next regular meeting for Feb. 25 and asked staff to provide travel and reimbursement guidance for conference-related travel.
