Sheriff: county will buy body armor for deputies; state grant to reimburse half

Wolpertin described how older vests are reused for training and tactical operations and said the department had investigated a federal buyback program but had not found a timely avenue for trade-ins.
A motion to approve the body armor purchase was moved and seconded; the board approved the purchase by voice vote.
