The council approved the workforce grant expansion (consent item 8) after staff described plans to convert a summer workforce program into a year‑round position. Charles Ray, urban forester for the city, said the opportunity "came up where we can build that capacity with additional grant," and Councilor Fox moved approval; Paulson seconded. The motion passed by voice vote.
Council unanimously approved acceptance of gifts from the estate of Anna Hammond (consent item 9). Nathan Leek, the Fire Department deputy chief, said the bequest has delivered recurring funding since 2012 and that the department had received about $210,000 to date, most of which supported the marine program. Leek moved approval; Stober seconded.
