Sandra, the school facilities presenter, described the HVAC request as a conceptual engineering study that will evaluate equipment condition, identify code‑driven and electrification options, and produce conceptual cost estimates to inform future design work. “We’re not buying material here. We’re just buying time,” she said when explaining the scope of the engineering study.
The committee moved and seconded the HVAC study for $52,000; roll‑call votes were recorded in the affirmative. The CIAC then approved the fire alarm and emergency lighting item for $190,000 by unanimous voice/roll call after members said they had seen the materials previously and had no outstanding questions.
Both approvals are advisory recommendations for inclusion on the Town Meeting warrant; committee members asked staff to circulate presentation materials and to include conceptual cost and scope detail in the CIAC report to the Finance Committee and Select Board.
