Food-permit updates: staff reported a mix of business activity in town centers. Pinspiration’s plans at the TJX Plaza are stalled pending a contractor change. Zayath Tapas and Bar opened for a soft opening, and Soltravola Trattoria (formerly Solray Mesa) obtained a food permit and opened under the same ownership team that ran Sobre Mesa. A business owner pursuing an Asian supermarket (Formosa Market) has discussed septic capacity for a TJX Plaza location; the department said that review is in early stages.
Federal funding and grant timing: staff said the town’s FDA grant-closeout for calendar year 2024 was submitted in January, but officials have received word of delays for 2025 FDA grant announcements tied to changes at the federal level. Staff said limited federal communications complicate planning for projects that would use those funds.
Hazardous Waste Day: the town’s hazardous-waste collection is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, from 8 a.m. to noon. Sign-up is required; event is for Sudbury residents only and proof of residency will be requested on arrival, staff said.
Facility and permitting updates: staff said a facility-space renovation is in progress and staff are working from satellite locations; there is no completion date available. An online permitting/digitization project is underway but delayed to avoid rolling out a system with significant bugs.
