PPIC forms FY26 budget committee; McSwain and Commissioner Reitz named

The Portsmouth PPIC formed a budget committee to prepare the fiscal year 2026 budget that begins July 1. Staff said the committee will include the treasurer and one additional commissioner; the commission reached consensus that Director McSwain and Commissioner Reitz will serve as the two budget committee representatives.
Staff said the committee will convene a kickoff meeting, develop initial recommendations and bring those recommendations back to the full commission at the March meeting, with a draft budget expected in April for possible adoption or adjustment before the July 1 start of the fiscal year. The board clarified that final adoption requires approval by the full commission.
