The Sustainability Committee scheduled an in‑person public visioning and strategy session for Monday, March 3, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., to define the committee's scope, remit and near‑term goals.
Committee members said the work would likely require two in‑person sessions: one to define scope (for example whether to include biodiversity and human impacts in addition to greenhouse gas reduction) and a follow‑up session to set concrete goals. Mary said she would seek a facilitator and a venue; the Fairbank Community Center and Curtis Auditorium were discussed for larger meetings. The meeting will be posted as a public meeting and staff will prepare an agenda and prework if the chosen facilitator requires prep time.
Members discussed scheduling constraints and expressed preference not to wait until summer because of vacations. The committee agreed that if an outside facilitator could not be found, they would proceed with the March 3 session regardless.
