Resident praises cleanup and recycling improvements at landfill; offers volunteer help

Susan Noyes, a Roswell resident and board member of Keep Roswell Beautiful, addressed the Infrastructure Committee during public comment to praise recent improvements to recycling containers at the city landfill and to offer volunteer assistance.
Noyes told the committee she regularly collects recyclable plastics from a local gym and brings them to the landfill. She said overloaded containers had previously scattered recyclables across the site but that after she raised the concern with city staff (she named an on-site staff member, Abraham), the containers were cleaned up and replaced with larger, covered bins. Noyes said the area was much cleaner on a follow-up visit.
Noyes asked whether volunteer oversight could help keep recycling operations orderly and suggested the city work with local volunteers to maintain recycling containers and educate the public on proper disposal. Committee members thanked Noyes and staff for their attention and noted staff would continue to coordinate with store managers and site operators to maintain the collection areas.
Ending Committee members and staff acknowledged the report and said staff would continue to monitor and coordinate landfill recycling operations; Noyes said she would recruit volunteers to assist.
