U.S. spokesperson says door remains open if Zelensky is ready for peace; cites Security Council action

The spokesperson also highlighted a recent procedural development at the United Nations: U.S. leadership at the Security Council produced a short statement seeking to end the Russia-Ukraine war that passed without opposition. Bruce described that as the first such Council action since the start of the conflict, and framed it as an example of U.S. diplomatic engagement on the issue.
Reporters asked about possible U.S. participation in contemplated talks in Saudi Arabia and whether letters of apology or commitments by Zelensky would be sufficient to restore full cooperation including intelligence or weapons agreements; Bruce said she could not comment on details of diplomatic arrangements or intelligence matters from the podium.
