Council waives permit and plan-review fees for County’s DA office relocation

The Alamosa City Council unanimously approved a request to waive building permit and plan review fees, and to waive excavation permit fees, for Alamosa County’s project to convert the former Alamosa State Bank building into a permanent office for the Twelfth Judicial District’s District Attorney.
City staff told council the permit and plan-review fees total about $12,660; excavation permit fees had not been estimated because those are assessed after work is completed. A staff presenter said the city and county ‘‘serve the same public’’ and described providing a permanent home for the district attorney’s office as a community priority.
Councilor Carson made the motion to waive the fees; another council member seconded. The council called the roll and Mayor Coleman and Councilor Dominguez voted yes by name; the motion was announced as carried unanimously. Councilor Jan Vigil was listed earlier as excused from the meeting.
The staff presenter did not provide a finalized excavation-fee amount; the council’s action authorized waivers of the applicable city fees for the county’s project. No additional conditions or funding were recorded in the council action.
