City warns River and Pearl closures after fallen cottonwood; power likely out overnight

"When we have the Cottonwood tree come down and impact some of the power lines, it impacted some adjacent power poles, so they literally split and are causing a hazardous situation," a city staff member said, noting that the city was awaiting the utility provider and county crews to replace poles and re‑string lines.
The staff member said the portions of River and Pearl affected will be limited to local access only while crews work and that there is no estimated time of restoration for power; updates will be posted on city social media.
Why it matters: the closures affect residents who use those streets overnight and could extend until utility crews complete pole replacement and line repairs. City staff said the audit exit conference remains dependent on outside deliverables and that if auditors are not ready the exit conference may be scheduled as a separate Zoom meeting to meet other procedural deadlines.
