Commission approves $60,000 drawdown for Hardy County Emergency Ambulance Authority

Derek Hall, director of the Hardy County Emergency Ambulance Authority (HCEAA), reported revenues and expenses for the authority and asked the commission to approve a drawdown for April. Hall said February expenses were $106,786.06 and total revenue was $198,277.37, including grant funds of $84,539.98 and other revenues and fee drawdowns from member towns.
Hall told the commission that the authority had implemented staffing changes and other cost reductions. He said the board had previously approved a drawdown plan that reduced the monthly drawdown to about $70,000, then adjusted to a lower figure; at the meeting the commission approved a drawdown of $60,000 for April. Hall said the authority had cut roughly $150,000 from its budget largely through personnel restructuring and reduced part‑time use, and that all units remained in service.
The commission formally moved and seconded approval of the $60,000 drawdown; the motion passed with ayes recorded and no dissent noted. Hall also reported that Roger Bukovsky was serving as an unpaid operations liaison to the HCEAA board and that the board of directors was scheduled to meet on the 10th at 6:30 p.m. at the 9‑1‑1 center.
Commissioners and staff said they would continue budget discussions during upcoming county budget hearings.
