Commissioners approve $3.69 million accounts payable, sign off on HR purchases and two procurement waivers; seal nonpublic minutes

Rockingham County commissioners approved an accounts payable list totaling $3,691,249.63 and a set of routine and procurement items during their March 6 meeting.

The accounts payable approval included higher-ticket items tied to the sheriff’s office, which staff and commissioners identified as a driver of the overall total. Commissioners then considered and approved a series of personnel- and procurement-related requests the county presented for action.

Among the fiscal and administrative approvals: the board authorized an amendment to the county’s voluntary accident-insurance plan offered through Colonial Life (staff recommended the amendment and a senior HR official was authorized to sign on the county’s behalf); approved $2,075 in gift-card purchases using the human-resources retention line; and authorized eight hours of paid time to correct an administrative error for a temporary long-term-care employee in lieu of charging vacation time.
