Board approves Saltaire Boulevard entrance monument sign for large PUD

The Walton County Design Review Board approved an entrance monument sign for a planned large planned unit development now identified as Saltaire Boulevard.
Planning staff said the application was continued from January because the applicant had not been present; the submittal requests a monument sign measuring 20 inches by 96 inches for a total reported as 80 square feet on a 1.81-acre parcel with future land use mixed use and village mixed use zoning. Tim Brown of Planning and Development said the sign would serve as an entrance feature for a large PUD that will have additional signage later.
Applicant David Bridal of Gulf Blue described materials that will be used on the sign, including painted aluminum and a stucco-like TexScope finish. Board members asked to see samples and to clarify whether the sign would be illuminated; Bridal said the sign would not be illuminated. "The material on the outside is painted with the color that is proposed," Bridal said when describing the exterior finish.
With no speakers from the public, a board member moved to approve the monument sign; the motion passed.
The approval covers the monument sign shown in the packet; Brown noted the PUD will likely present additional signs at a later date.
