Bremerton council approves consent agenda; two members abstain on lodging-tax appointments

Acting City Clerk Lindsey Victor read the list of consent items into the record and the council moved, seconded and called the question. The roll call recorded five yes votes and two abstentions. Council members voting yes were Council President Eric Junger, Council Member Jennifer Chamberlain (attending remotely), Council Member Frey, Council Member Reblewski and Council Member Mokler. Council Members Coughlin and Goodnow recorded abstentions; the presiding officer said both abstained because they had ties to potential lodging-tax recipients, a standard conflict-avoidance practice.
Details approved under the consent agenda included resolutions and administrative items: confirming appointments of Anna Doring to the Planning Commission and Daniel Cole to the Bremerton Kitsap Access Television Citizens Advisory Committee; reappointment confirmations for Kirsty Hertel and new appointments for Quinn Dennehy and John Brennan to the Citizens Commission on Council Salaries; an interlocal purchasing agreement with the Region 8 Education Center (TIPS); approval of a legislative office manager job description; and adoption of updated council rules and procedures by Resolution No. 3394 (repealing Resolution No. 3366). The consent agenda reading also referenced an amendment earlier in the evening moving Ordinance No. 5509 (Public Records) under general business for fuller public discussion.
The motion carried and the council moved on to general business.
