City operations staff told the Fall River City Park Board on March 5 that the North Park walkway project has entered the bidding process and that bids are due March 13.
Staff said vendors collected bid documents on Feb. 20, attended a site walkthrough on Feb. 27 and that the department issued an addendum responding to vendor questions (for example, how to handle existing granite pavers in the walkway). The department plans to palletize and save existing granite pavers for reuse on another city project, staff said. The project’s estimated cost posted in the bid documents is $160,000, with a modest buffer to accommodate addenda and unanticipated costs.
The board was told it can expect a contract recommendation at the next meeting after bids are opened and reviewed. No formal vote on award was taken at the March 5 meeting.
Staff asked commissioners to raise questions before the bid-opening so potential clarifications can be incorporated into the evaluation.
