The Village of Riverwoods Board of Trustees approved a $2,000 donation March 4 to the Deerfield Parent Network (DPN) to support DPN programming and the After Party for Deerfield High School seniors.
Two DPN representatives attended the meeting and described DPN's programming for parents in several feeder districts and the After Party's role as a locked, substance‑free celebration that keeps students supervised after prom. The After Party event is donation‑funded and the DPN attendees said it typically costs about $25,000 annually to stage.
Trustee Jamerson moved to approve the $2,000 donation; Trustee Clayton seconded. The donation motion passed on roll call with the following votes: Trustee Jenkins — aye; Trustee Eastman — aye; Trustee Hallander — abstain; Trustee Jamerson — aye; Trustee Smith — aye; Trustee Clayton — aye; Trustee Dickens — aye. The mayor announced "Motion passes." No additional conditions were attached to the contribution; staff will process the payment to the DPN per usual donation procedures.
Ending: Trustees and DPN representatives discussed cost‑sharing among neighboring municipalities. DPN said it partners with school districts and neighboring municipalities on some programs and agreed to consider outreach to Highland Park for future contributions. The donation appears in village minutes as an approved expenditure.
