District staff recommend renewals and purchases; athletic trainer and chiller-maintenance renewals to go to board

District staff told the committee that multiple operational contracts and procurements will come to the Board of Education for approval at the March 18 meeting, including athletic trainer services, preventive maintenance for chilled-water systems, student fees and a Chromebook purchase for incoming freshmen.
On athletic trainer services, staff said the contract with ATI expires at fiscal year-end; two bidders responded to the Feb. 25 solicitation and ATI submitted the lowest price. Staff recommended advancing ATI for board approval on March 18.
On facilities maintenance, staff explained the district previously held a preventive-maintenance program for a 1999 chiller. A newer Daikin chiller installed in 2020 is now out of warranty, and Train offered an updated annual preventive-maintenance renewal covering both systems for $24,891 under the Omnia Purchasing Cooperative. Staff said the renewal includes annual maintenance, tube cleaning, startup vibration analysis and priority response and will be brought to the board for approval.
On student fees, staff recommended no changes for 2025–26 after benchmarking other local districts; current fees were described in the packet as $289 per student (with a different figure listed for freshmen in the packet). The committee did not vote on fees; staff will present the fee schedule for board action.
On Chromebooks, staff recommended purchasing 540 units for incoming freshmen (to supply freshmen and maintain a back stock). Last year the district purchased 541 Chromebooks at a cost of $216,009.41; staff said quotes are being gathered and they expect slightly higher pricing this year. A final vendor recommendation will be presented at the March board meeting.
Each of these items will be presented to the board for formal approval; no contracts were signed during the committee meeting.
