Paramount Chamber marks 100 years, spotlights longtime manufacturers and small‑business support

Ben Berg, president of the Paramount Chamber of Commerce, told the State of the City luncheon that the Chamber is celebrating its 100th anniversary and represents nearly 300 local businesses. "It's the Chamber's pleasure each year to host the State of the City Luncheon," Berg said.

Berg traced Paramount’s business history from its early farming days through the growth of oil, aerospace and manufacturing. He highlighted longtime local firms and employers mentioned during his remarks: Romberg Milling, World Energy Paramount (formerly refinery property), Weber Metals, Ace Clearwater, Carlton Forge, Wavefront Technologies and Frank J. Zamboni Company. Berg credited these firms with helping shape Paramount’s economic base and noted that the Chamber works to connect businesses with city services and resources.

The Chamber president outlined services available to members and the community, including referrals, education, networking and one‑on‑one assistance through staff members. He said the Chamber office is open to businesses and that staff members Barbara and Dora are available to discuss membership benefits. Berg also noted Chamber centennial materials available at the event — a free commemorative poster and hats available for purchase — and announced a $2,500 small business scholarship the Chamber set up to mark the 100th anniversary.

Berg closed by emphasizing the Chamber’s role in convening business, government and community partners and encouraging nonmembers to visit the Chamber office for information about services.
