Representatives of the Big Walnut Civic Association told the Sunbury City Parks and Recreation Committee they plan a free, family-focused Easter egg hunt in Sunbury in April with a Sunday rain date and that police and fire have reviewed the permit with no objections.
Miss Zern, identified as the Big Walnut Civic Association representative, described the event as community-oriented and free to attendees. She said organizers invite family-friendly groups and vendors, that performing arts groups will provide entertainment after 2 p.m., and that organizers pushed the scheduled time back to 12 to 3 p.m. (from 11 to 2) to accommodate on-the-ground volunteers.
Staff said both police and fire chiefs had reviewed the permit and reported no concerns. Organizers said they will request trash and dumpster access from the school and that restrooms will be open; staff confirmed a shelter reservation and that the organizers plan to hold a rain date on the following Sunday if needed. Committee members asked whether road closures were necessary; staff and the organizer said none were required.
Ending: Staff said they will route the permit to the events committee as appropriate and will share event promotion through city channels; the committee did not object to proceeding with staff-level permit handling.
