Senator Serrano, the sponsor of the resolution, told colleagues the conference “provides the opportunity for elected officials, leaders, advocates, and members of our communities to come together under the theme, justice in action.” He said the event will focus on advancing equality, fostering community-driven solutions and empowering underserved voices.
The sponsor acknowledged collaboration with Assemblywoman Karina Reyes, chair of the Puerto Rican Hispanic Task Force, and commended Somos Inc. for hosting the conference. The resolution was adopted; at the sponsor’s request it was opened for cosponsorship.
The measure recognizes the conference as a gathering for workshops, panels and networking aimed at encouraging civic participation and leadership development within Latino communities. The resolution notes the event will take place in Albany in March 2025.
