The Parks and Arts Commission on March 3 tentatively selected a Country Vista Trail corridor between Liberty Lake’s two elementary schools as the preferred location for the city’s StoryWalk project.
Staff detailed two principal options (the arboretum and diamond/field corridors) and provided measured distances: the existing Rocky Hill StoryWalk footprint is about 250 feet, while the Country Vista corridor between the schools measures roughly 440 feet, offering additional display room. Staff said the Country Vista Trail provides steady foot traffic from families and ball-field users, and maintenance staff noted irrigation lines and potential placement adjustments would require verification.
Commissioners said they preferred a high-traffic location to maximize visibility and engagement; no formal vote was taken. Staff will follow up with a locate for irrigation lines and coordinate with David (staff) for final placement and implementation timing. The StoryWalk remains a staff-led project with further details to be returned at a future meeting.
