Commissioner reports threats and doxxing; sheriff notified, possible charges under consideration

During the Mobile County Commission conference on March 6, a commissioner reported receiving emails that posted home addresses, vehicle descriptions and places of worship for commissioners and their families and said the same group had directed violent threats toward county staff.

The commissioner said the messages included a specific threat to Bud McCrory, identified at the meeting as the county director, describing suggested methods of killing and naming firearms: "I'll tell you how to take care of him, 40 caliber at a close range and a .243 at long range," the commissioner said. The commissioner said the threats had continued for weeks and that he had contacted the sheriff and would press charges if the threats continued.

Another participant said they had received the same email. The commissioner said he would share the messages and vehicle descriptions with the sheriff and that he "would not be threatened" and would pursue law-enforcement action if necessary. The commissioner asked that people not show up at his home address, which the group had posted, and said the conduct had escalated to physical-threat language.

The commission did not enter executive session on the matter; the commissioner said he would handle follow-up with law enforcement and share relevant information. No formal action or vote was recorded during the conference on this matter beyond the public report and the commissioner's statement that the sheriff had been notified and that criminal charges were under consideration.
