Stow City Commission approves updated engineering records retention schedule

STOW CITY — The Stow City Commission voted to approve an updated records retention schedule for the Engineering Department at its March commission meeting, the presiding officer said.
The update removes records categories the city no longer maintains. “they removed items no longer maintained,” the presiding officer said during the discussion. Commissioners also noted that some functions previously handled in engineering are now performed by the Water Department.
The change drew a brief procedural question from a commissioner who said they had filed a public records request in the past and wanted assurance the records would still be available. The commission confirmed the schedule was updated to reflect current practice; no further public-records procedure was specified during the meeting.
The commission first approved the minutes from the Sept. 5, 2024 meeting by motion and then approved the records retention schedule as presented. Both motions passed by voice vote.
The commission adjourned and noted its next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 4, 2025, at 9 a.m., if needed.
