Board tables future land-use petition after recent boundary dispute

The Newton County Board of Commissioners on March 4 voted 5-0 to table a future land-use map amendment (FLU25-000001) after staff reported a neighbor had produced a survey that raised a recent boundary question.
Planning staff recommended tabling the item to give the applicant an opportunity to review the new survey evidence and update the application if necessary. The petition had been approved by the planning commission in February but staff said the new boundary information arose within the last 24 hours and warranted postponement.
Commissioner Mason moved to table the petition until May (or the date specified by Planning and Development Services); Commissioner Stan Edwards seconded the motion. The board voted unanimously to table.
Staff will notify the applicant and interested parties of the new schedule and expects the item to return at a later meeting after the applicant addresses the boundary issue.
