District to dispose of surplus robotics equipment; partner academy to receive equipment and training support

During the Feb. 3 meeting, Associate Superintendent Dr. Angie Smith told the board the district plans to dispose of surplus robotics equipment that does not fit the current career and technical education (CTE) strands and to transfer the equipment to a local partner, identified as APS.
Smith said the proposed disposal would include a financial component and in-kind services: APS would expand its program and offer students the opportunity to use the equipment at the academy and provide retraining opportunities for adults in the community. Smith said district staff believed the equipment would have a more useful life with the partner than in its current assignment.
