Florence Tiong and Felicia Chang described Misunderstood Moments as a project to collect 50 real-life stories from people with developmental disabilities and pair each story with an illustration by a local artist. The group said it plans public exhibitions in libraries and other venues, school seminars and online distribution to promote empathy and reduce misperceptions.
Tiong asked the council for feedback and suggested possibilities including grant eligibility, collaboration with commissions and discussions with King County Library System about exhibition space. “This initiative is not just a one-time campaign, but it is a movement to a more inclusive society,” Tiong said.
