“I'm pleased to announce that the police substation located at the farm has completed its process of being developed. We are ready for [a] ribbon cutting ceremony… March 13 at 2PM,” Chief White told the council. He said the location is on the first level of The Farm, Space Number 135, nearer the Vintage building, and invited council and the public to the ceremony.
Chief White said officers have already been using the facility for about two months and that the department would post regular public hours once staffing schedules are finalized. “We don't have the staffing to have it open full time... We're looking to have it open at least two days out of the week for specific hours during those two days,” he said, adding that officers using the facility outside posted hours would still be able to answer questions when present.
Council members asked about posted hours and whether a caller could be directed to an officer at the substation; the chief said the department phone would route callers to police services and that an officer could be dispatched to the location when needed. Staff said door signage will state hours vary and provide a phone number for immediate service.
What happens next: ribbon cutting March 13 (2 p.m.; ribbon at 2:30 p.m. per the invitations); staff will finalize a part-time public schedule and post hours on the department website.
