Valerie (city finance staff) told the council Civic Systems would provide more hands-on assistance during implementation and can convert roughly 10 years of historical data into the new system, which staff said matters for bond-related and archival reporting. Staff also said Civic’s user interface and customer support are familiar and easier to learn compared with alternatives.
Councilmembers discussed cost trade-offs between a higher one-time implementation fee versus higher recurring annual fees. Staff signaled the selected system would be easier for current staff to adopt and would reduce long-term training frictions. The resolution passed unanimously by roll call.
What happens next: The finance department will execute the contract and begin implementation activities, including data conversion and project planning with Civic Systems. Staff noted the implementation work is substantial and appreciates vendor support during conversion of historical records.
