Granbury ISD cites routing changes as interim response to traffic issues in Prairie area

Residents at the March 11 meeting asked district leaders about heavy traffic and safety around Grama Prairie and other growing neighborhoods.
One attendee asked whether the district had a plan to ease the “traffic problem in Grama Prairie.” The superintendent said the district had no single solution and that the issue involved multiple jurisdictions, noting prior bond proposals had addressed related infrastructure. She said the district’s current mitigation is scheduling — “the double routes is the best solution that we have,” she said — which staggers bus runs to reduce peak congestion.
Why it matters: Transportation affects punctuality, safety and operating costs. The superintendent said the district operates extensive daily routes — describing a combined daily bus mileage figure used in the presentation — and that over 3,300 students ride district buses each day.
District leaders said they continue to explore options with municipal and county partners and that any permanent roadway fixes depend on external planning and funding. The board did not adopt any new transportation policy at the meeting.
