Kristen Johansson, representing the Port Orange South Daytona Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, thanked the Daytona Beach Shores City Commission for participating in and hosting the Chamber's Mayor's Heroes dinner at the Shores Resort and Spa.
Johansson said the Chamber "stepped it up" this year by holding the event as a dinner rather than a breakfast and described it as "a fantastic event." She thanked commissioners for their participation and extended congratulations to the city's Public Safety Officer of the Year.
Vice Mayor (unnamed) said the event honored law enforcement officers, firefighters and, for the first time this year, a corrections officer; the vice mayor noted Detective Malphurs was selected from Daytona Beach Shores. Johansson said the Chamber has several events coming up, including a DevelopU educational luncheon titled "Built on Culture, the Blueprint for Business Success" scheduled for Thursday the sixth at 11:30 a.m. at the Chamber's Riverside Pavilion. She also said the Chamber still had spaces available for that session.
