City schedules April visioning sessions and plans expanded January/June state‑of‑city presentations

Staff said they will host citizen sessions on April 3 at 6 p.m. and April 4 at 10 a.m. at the Pelican (flyers prepared by Nancy Maddox). The sessions will focus on broad city priorities (excluding parks and recreation, which will be covered separately). Staff said the sessions will be promoted via Constant Contact and the city website and that one or more commissioners may attend; a follow‑up commission workshop to summarize citizen feedback is scheduled for April 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with a goal of bringing a written draft framework to the commission in May.
On civic outreach and recognition, commissioners discussed returning employee service anniversary recognitions to the commission meeting or allowing employees to choose between recognition at Coffee with the Mayor or at a commission meeting. Staff said June typically hosts staff recognition ("meet the staff") and that a formal state‑of‑the‑city presentation could be scheduled in January or February to review goals, grants and accomplishments.
Ending: staff asked commissioners to participate and listen at the April sessions so resident input can shape the draft strategic framework to be considered in May.
