The Bastrop ISD Board of Trustees approved the district’s 2025–26 academic calendar at its Feb. 18 meeting after Kendra Monk, director of leadership development and school improvement, presented two final drafts and public voting results.
Monk explained the calendar parameters used to craft options: the district’s teacher contract days must total 187 days and student instructional minutes must meet the state minimum (75,600 minutes). The calendar options preserved standard federal holidays, aligned spring break with Austin Community College to support dual‑credit coordination, and showed small differences in staff development and preparation days between drafts.
Monk said the district solicited public feedback across several drafts and modes of outreach and that Draft A received 62.6% support in the final community vote. “So the District Improvement Committee begins looking at drafts and they make suggestions and we create more drafts based on their first meeting,” Monk told the board.
Dr. Meeks moved to approve the 2025–26 Bastrop ISD school calendar (Draft A) as presented; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously by the board.
Key calendar points: teacher contract days — 187; student instructional minutes — at least 75,600; spring break aligned with ACC; graduation dates consistent with prior years. The adopted calendar will be published on the district website and shared with staff and families.
