Board holds public hearing on Birdville ISD 2023–24 annual report and TAPR; no public comments

Birdville ISD held the required public hearing on its 2023–24 annual report, including the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR), during the Feb. 27 board meeting. Dr. Stinson introduced the hearing by noting statutory requirements. "In keeping with the Texas Education Code, however, 39.006, all Texas school districts are required to conduct a public hearing regarding its annual performance," Dr. Stinson said, explaining the district had provided the required documents and would post the reports on district and campus websites and provide printed copies on request.
Brian Allen, identified as the district’s director of planning, assessment and accountability, summarized the report’s eight sections: the TAPR PDF compiled by TEA; the PEIMS financial actual report; district accreditation status; campus performance objectives (campus improvement plans required under Tex. Educ. Code §11.253); a report on violent and criminal incidents consistent with reporting limits under FERPA (Tex. Educ. Code §39.306); student performance in postsecondary institutions; progress on House Bill 3 board goals; and the TEA glossary. Allen said the TAPR-related materials rely on PEIMS and student-assessment data and noted current accountability ratings and distinction designations were not available at the time of the presentation.
The board invited public comment; no members of the public registered to speak on the TAPR or annual report during the hearing and the board declared the public hearing closed.
Next steps and access to documents
Administrators said the district will post the annual report and campus TAPRs on district and campus websites within two weeks and make printed copies available at campuses and the district office. Contact information for follow-up questions was provided in board materials.
