Prattville council adopts nine routine resolutions funding parks, road work and professional services

The Prattville City Council on Tuesday approved nine routine resolutions authorizing capital and professional services contracts, park improvements and the donation of two retired ambulances.
Council members voted to fund playground and restroom projects, sidewalk and traffic improvements, professional advisory services and geotechnical work tied to planned park projects. All items were adopted by voice vote with no recorded oppositions.
The measures approved included a $77,000 contract with CAMCO Properties LLC to build a restroom and storage building at Bell Park; a $91,548 agreement with Alexander Seal Coating and Striping Inc. for a turning lane at Main Street and Pratt Street; and a $74,949.75 purchase and installation of playground equipment at Cooters Pond Park from GameTime/Struthers Recreation (as named in the resolution).
The council also authorized a professional-services agreement with Rice Advisory LLC for ongoing financial advisory work; a $63,000 engineering agreement with Krebs Engineering Inc. for a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) sidewalk extension on State Route 14; and contracts supporting the Spillway Park improvementsincluding Chambliss King LLC for construction/architectural inspection services at a cost not to exceed $82,197 and Civil Southeast LLC for engineering and inspection services not to exceed $30,500.
A geotechnical site-services contract with GTEC LLC for North Highland Park was approved at $10,160, and the council authorized Strategic Government Resources (SGR) to conduct an executive search for a planning-and-development director at a cost not to exceed $28,449.
The two ambulances in the consent agenda were declared surplus and designated for donation: one to the Autauga County Board of Education/Autauga County Technology Center and one to Central Alabama Community College.
Councilor Strzyzyk, chair of Parks and Recreation, answered one question about the Bell Park restroom cost, saying the structure is approximately 600 square feet and that the price equates to roughly $128 per square foot "at today's going rate." Kelly (city staff) told the council the Spillway Park design had been reviewed and approved by the city's Historic Preservation Commission and that the construction contract (Webb Construction) was awarded at a prior meeting and plans to start Monday. The city's engineer told the council the geotechnical team would be on site at North Highland Park the day after the meeting.
All resolutions were adopted by voice vote following brief discussion; the council created and adopted the consent agenda earlier in the meeting and then approved the regular-agenda items in sequence.
