The Boerne ISD business office reported a Skyward accounting/reporting issue that has affected multiple fund reports for January, asked trustees to accept interim financial materials and highlighted ongoing tax collections and hiring progress.
Business officials told trustees that an issue with the Skyward reporting system produced incorrect month-end figures for several funds; the vendor has been notified and the district provided trustees with the material elements that were verified (budget amendments, donation summaries and tax collection tallies). The district’s tax collections for the levy to date were presented; staff said January collections were slightly lower year-over-year but remain strong overall and that the district continues to collect past-due amounts regularly.
Superintendent Dr. Kristin Kraft and HR Director Nadine Espinosa reported on recruitment and retention efforts for auxiliary staff. Kraft told the board that after a fall pay adjustment of $1.25 per hour for hourly staff, the district’s custodial vacancies declined from 18 to zero. Espinosa described targeted recruiting at Workforce San Antonio, Workforce Kerrville and other local events, plus employee referrals, as key contributors to filling vacancies. Trustees discussed the potential use of employee referral bonuses as a recruitment tool.
The board later approved the budget amendments, donation report and tax collection report as presented. Administration said it will continue to work with Skyward to reconcile the January reporting issue and will bring corrected fund statements when available.
