Court approves Precinct 2 peace officer profile and grants match for volunteer fire bunker gear

The Commissioners Court approved two administrative items: acceptance of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) profile/report and proof of a permanent peace officer license for the Precinct 2 constable, and a county grant-match commitment to support a volunteer fire department’s bunker-gear purchase tied to a grant application.

On the constable item, the Precinct 2 constable presented the required TCOLE profile report and a copy of training records and a permanent peace officer license. The constable said the materials were being filed to meet TCOLE requirements. A commissioner moved, a second was given and the court approved the submission and acceptance of the constable’s profile and license; the action was recorded as carried by voice vote.

On the volunteer fire item (agenda item 15), the court approved a match for a grant application described in the meeting as a request for bunker gear. Staff said the department was applying for a $27,500 grant; presenters indicated the county would provide the grant match and that the department expected to be reimbursed $25,000 of the purchase. The transcript contains slightly inconsistent figures in the back-and-forth (references to $2,500 or $2,750 for the local match were made), so the court motion focused on approving the county match to enable the grant application and potential reimbursement. The motion carried by voice vote.
