The Bothell City Council on March 4 approved a resolution increasing the professional services agreement with WSP USA Inc. by $2,169,138 for continued design work on the Bothell Way Northeast Multimodal Improvements project.
Public Works Director Anne Lenhart said the supplement covers additional geotechnical analysis, wall and stormwater vault design, right‑of‑way acquisition services and other design tasks needed to widen Bothell Way between Reader Avenue and Northeast 240th Street. Lenhart noted work tied to community transit will be reimbursed to the city under a separate interlocal agreement and memorandum of understanding before significant transit‑funded work proceeds.
Councilmember Kurt disclosed a potential financial interest before the item and said her spouse works for WSP; ethics staff determined there was no conflict but she elected to abstain from the vote. The city clerk recorded the roll call: the motion passed 6–0 with Councilmember Kurt abstaining.
The resolution authorizes the finance and public works staff to execute the supplement and continue project design work.
