Board committee approves $800,000 in painting requests for three schools to submit to NCDPI

Staff said the district is eligible annually for roughly $800,000 in distribution funds and recommended the three projects for this funding cycle.
Clarifications from staff Board members asked specifics about McWilliams Middle because a separate repair project will address a wing the district will exclude from the painting scope; staff clarified the painting request covers the entire interior of McWilliams except the back wing, which is part of a separate repair. Staff also explained that McWilliams has mostly masonry exterior construction, which is why no exterior painting request was included for McWilliams.
Board action A board committee member moved to approve the distribution request to NCDPI, another member seconded, and the committee approved the submittal.
What’s next Staff will submit the distribution application to NCDPI for review; if approved by state reviewers, the district may receive allocation for the projects and proceed to procurement and scheduling.
