Parks staff told the Park Board the department will operate under a five-person leadership team rather than hiring a single park director. The team includes a director of operations (staff presenter identified herself as director of operations), Christian Hansen as superintendent of grounds, Whitney as athletic director, Brett Ricketts as community development director (with added events responsibilities), and Roger as Sunrise Golf Pro.
Staff reported personnel changes: Kim will retire on May 2 after nine years of service; Linda Lee has been hired to replace her in a part-time role (about 30 hours per week). The parks office has been moved to Brown Memorial Gymnasium so staff and programming are co-located; staff said the move simplifies public access and internal communication.
Staff also reported hiring two seasonal maintenance employees to support athletic field work and noted other hires: a campground host and league director for baseball/softball (Mike Watson). Managers said the new appropriations and payroll reporting will allow better month-to-month P&L tracking for departments and programs.
Board members asked about the Brown Gym move and staff said it centralizes operations with Whitney and other program staff present; the director of operations will continue to attend city-hall staff meetings as needed.
