Commissioners approve consent items including minutes, payroll, sheriff vehicle sale and several administrative items

Greene County commissioners approved routine consent items and several administrative matters during the March 4 meeting.

The board approved minutes from the Feb. 18 meeting and accepted circulated claims and payroll dockets; each motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote after the items were noted as having been circulated by email.

On surplus and sales, commissioners reviewed two bids for a Greene County Sheriff vehicle (a 2017 Ford) and, after confirming a $5,000 minimum bid, approved a motion to allow the sheriff to complete the sale. On grounds and facility maintenance, the board reviewed multiple bids for weekly mowing and landscape services for county properties and the Greene County Community Event Center and voted to forward those bids to the event center board for recommendation before final award.

Other items approved under routine business included a first allocation request from Greene County Community Development (presented by county economic development staff) and the treasurer’s request to engage a third‑party collection firm for outstanding personal property tax delinquencies; the treasurer’s office noted the vendor would be paid by check rather than by deduction from tax collections. The board also reappointed two members to the hospital board after both expressed willingness to continue serving.

Why it matters: consent items move routine county business forward — including maintenance contracts, small asset sales, administrative allocations and appointments. Several items were forwarded to advisory boards or require subsequent administrative execution; commissioners did not indicate opposition to these measures during the meeting.
