"Probably start with the road commissioner and he can reach out to DOT traffic engineer and start the process," a Planning Board member said. The board noted that traffic speeds in the corridor have increased as businesses and traffic volumes have grown and that relocation or other countermeasures will require DOT involvement and likely a formal review.
Board members described local experiences of high speeds approaching the town and compared the issue to other corridors such as Madison Avenue, where speed and safety have been topics of recent discussion. No formal petition or application to DOT was recorded at the meeting; the board directed interested citizens to the road commissioner as the initial contact point.
