The House Finance Judiciary Subcommittee adopted its fiscal year 2026 operating budget recommendation for the Alaska Court System and moved the package from committee on Wednesday, March 5, after accepting the governor's budget proposals with one modification.
The subcommittee met at 12:19 p.m. and, by unanimous consent with no recorded objections, adopted the judiciary draft budget action report and corresponding operating budget as its working document and moved the FY26 subcommittee recommendation from committee. Rachel Gunn, staff, summarized the report for the record.
Gunn said the subcommittee “accepted all of the budget proposal submitted by the office of the governor.” She told the panel the only change made in the report was to item 4: “Added 170,800 of UGF as, to fit better reflect the needs of the court system for facility costs as originally requested by the Alaska court system.”
Chair Jimmy closed the meeting after the subcommittee voted to move the recommendation, noting the Legislative Finance Division was directed to make any necessary conforming or technical changes to the attached legislative finance reports. The meeting was adjourned at 12:22 p.m.
The action forwards the subcommittee's operating-budget recommendation for the Alaska Court System to the next stage of legislative consideration, with the $170,800 addition designated from unrestricted general funds for facility costs. No roll-call vote was recorded in the transcript; members present did not object to adoption and to moving the recommendation from committee.
