Police chief recommends contract with Tri State Roofing for Jean Dean Public Safety Building roof

Phil Watkins, Huntington's police chief, told the council the Jean Dean Public Safety Building experienced significant leaks last fall and the purchasing division solicited bids for roof repairs.
Watkins said six bids were received and staff recommended Tri State Roofing and Sheet Metal as the lowest responsible bidder at $28,171. He said funds for the work will come from the Jean Dean Building Fund.
"We're requesting that you approve for Mayor Farrell to enter into a contract to furnish labor and materials for roof repairs at the Jean Dean Public Safety Building," Watkins said. He added that the department placed the repairs out for bid on Nov. 25, 2024, with bids due Dec. 18, and that he would answer council questions.
No final contract award or vote was recorded during the Jan. 27 work session; staff introduced the resolution for council consideration.
