CRA reports progress on three housing infill sites, Cervantes CDBG kickoff and Baptist demolition timeline

CRA staff on Jan. 13 updated the Pensacola Community Redevelopment Agency on several active projects: three affordable housing infill sites donated to the community land trust (CLT), the kickoff of a CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) for the Cervantes Street corridor, and a revised schedule for the Baptist site demolition procurement.
An administrator said the CRA has donated three affordable housing infill parcels to the CLT and that the projects are "moving forward." The administrator said the CLT "have until July to start their vertical construction and 2 of them have already started the site work." The administrator encouraged board members to reach out with questions.
On the Cervantes Street corridor grant, the administrator said the department is overseeing the CDBG award and "we've been working, with Florida Commerce on getting that grant kinda kicked off. The first step in the process is gonna be environmental review, identifying, an administration, service provider. So we've put out some competitive, solicitations for those services and those will be closing this week." The administrator added that because the grant is restricted to commercial development, the next step will be developing a retail strategy for the corridor.
On the Baptist site, staff member Erica said the schedule slipped due to weather, noting, "we did have to push our dates back just a little bit thanks to Snowmageddon, but we expect to or all of our, bids and our responses are due February 27. So at that time, we will have a sense of what the actual demolition costs will be and that will, of course, inform the decision on how to move forward." Erica said the previous delays affected the procurement timeline and that a final demolition cost estimate will guide next steps.
No actions or votes were taken on these project updates during the meeting. Board members were invited to contact staff for additional information. No public comments were recorded during these updates.
